Eisner, LLP is representing the 20 contestants participating in YouTube’s music competition series “Dream Academy.” The yet-to-be-named “Global Girl Group” is being jointly developed by HYBE (the home of the superstar group BTS) and Universal Music Group’s Geffen Records, which are using the K-pop development system as their template.
Beginning in September, Dream Academy contestants will participate in weekly music-related missions. Following a voting and elimination process, the final contestants and the name of the group will be revealed at the finale in November. The show airs jointly on YouTube and Japan’s ABEMA platform, and a Netflix documentary on the group’s development will air in 2024.
“We are thrilled to represent the immensely talented contestants on Dream Academy,” said Aron Izower, Partner at Eisner, LLP and co-lead counsel for the contestants. “The chance to work with these up-and-coming superstars on such a unique music venture is truly a one-of-a-kind opportunity.”
“We are closely collaborating with the contestants, HYBE, and Geffen to launch and develop a global supergroup from the ground-up,” said Dan Shulman, Partner at Eisner, LLP and co-lead counsel for the contestants. “This representation aligns perfectly with Eisner’s strengths as a full-service business and entertainment firm.”
Eisner Partner Jordan Gutglass also represents the contestants. The trailer for Dream Academy can be found here and news coverage of the series can be found here.
