Martin N. Burton


Martin N. Burton is Of Counsel in the Firm’s Real Estate Department. His practice focuses on land use, environmental and real estate transactions, with an emphasis on the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), zoning and entitlement, and remediation of impacted sites.

Representative Experience

In 30 years of practice, Marty has represented both private and public agency clients in some of the region’s most significant land use projects:

  • Walt Disney Concert Hall – supervised preparation of Environmental Impact Report
  • Alameda Corridor – negotiated relocation of largest utility holders
  • Citadel Shopping Center – negotiated purchase by City of Commerce
  • Tustin Marine Corps Air Center – orchestrated settlement worth over $100 million for construction of new schools for Santa Ana Unified School District
  • Ambassador College – special counsel to City of Pasadena for reuse negotiations
  • Unocal Oil Company – Manager of Real Estate, overseeing 1400 service stations; supervised transfer and sale of $700 million in real estate holdings to Tosco Corporation
