Dan Shulman

Managing Partner, New York

With offices on the East and West coasts, Dan heads an industry-leading music law practice with matters and clients spanning the globe. He is respected and connected, leveraging the advantages earned from a long and successful career in entertainment law to provide the highest level of service to his clients.

Like great artists, Dan’s work is not limited by categories or labels – he is committed to delivering solutions to all of the legal issues facing his clients in the entertainment industry. With a diverse clientele of superstar performers, up-and-coming artists, producers, managers, video directors, songwriters, record companies, publishers, live concert promoters, brands, digital media entities, and other stakeholders, Dan’s experience is vast. He routinely negotiates and drafts complex commercial agreements related to all aspects of the development, production, distribution, promotion, and exploitation of intellectual property and other artistic ventures. He also advises on and coordinates diverse entertainment industry matters from multijurisdictional transactions and disputes to employment engagements and endorsement agreements.

Dan draws on the diverse experience of Eisner’s collaborative attorneys and his extensive network to provide comprehensive representation, always combined with his personal attention to detail and hands-on service. When a client is exploring new opportunities outside the traditional boundaries of their art, industry, or locale, Dan has the real-world experience to anticipate and advise on the obstacles and opportunities ahead.

While receiving numerous awards and industry-wide recognition, it is Dan’s humble authenticity and creative intelligence that truly drive his approach and his success. With clients, Dan is diligent and responsive, fully engaging in their careers. With opposing counsel, he is respectful. When negotiating deals or resolving disagreements, Dan crafts lasting solutions that preserve trust, relationships, and future opportunity rather than short-term wins.

In addition to his busy entertainment law practice, Dan is the General Counsel of Music’s Promise, a social responsibility program for the music industry that encourages and empowers performers, executives, and organizations in the industry to use their influence in support of community causes.
